Instructions
Preparing the Prawns
Clean the Prawns:
Ensure the prawns are cleaned, deveined, and washed thoroughly. Drain the excess water and set them aside.
Marinate the Prawns:
Marinate the prawns with a pinch of turmeric, half of required red chili powder and salt. Let them rest for about 10 minutes.
Cooking the Masala
Heat the Oil:
In a large pan, heat the oil over medium heat. Add the mustard seeds and cumin seeds. Let them splutter.
Sauté the Onions:
Add the finely chopped onions and curry leaves. Sauté until the onions turn golden brown.
Add Ginger-Garlic Paste:
Add the ginger-garlic paste and green chilies. Sauté until the raw smell disappears.
Cook the Tomatoes:
Add the chopped tomatoes. Cook until they turn soft and oil begins to separate from the mixture.
Add the Spices:
Add turmeric powder, red chili powder, coriander powder, garam masala and cumin powder. Mix well and cook for a few minutes until the spices are well combined.
Add the Prawns:
Add the marinated prawns to the mixture. Cook for 5-7 minutes until the prawns are cooked through and have absorbed the flavours of the spices.
Final Touch:
Add Pepper powder and adjust salt to taste. Cook for another minute and turn off the heat.
