Murungakka Manga Sambar
Murungakkai Mangai Sambar / Drumstick Raw Mango Sambar is a delicious Tangy South Indian curry Which goes well with Steamed Rice, Idly or Dosa.

- 1/2 cup Toor Dal
- 12 Shallots
- 1 Tomato
- 2 tsp Sambar powder
- 1/4 tsp Turmeric Powder
- Salt as required
- Tamarind – size of a small lemon
- 1 Murungakka/ drumstick – 1 cut into 2”piece
- 1/2 Raw Mango / Manga cut into small chunks
- 3 Brinjal / Kathirikai cut into small piecse
To temper
- 2 tsp Oil
- 1/2 tsp Mustard seeds
- 1/2 tsp Split urad dal
- Curry leaves – few
Method:
In a pressure add Toor dal, turmeric powder, 1 tsp of oil and 2 cups of water.
Pressure cook for 4 whistles
Let the pressure release naturally.
Then Mash the dal.
Add vegetables, sambar powder, shallots, tomato, salt and cook for 1 more whistle.
Now add tamarind juice and let it boil for a min or 2 .
Transfer to a serving bowl.
Temper with items under “to temper”.
Serve with steamed rice.
