Paneer Momos – Momos / Dumplings is one of the Tibetan food which is very popular in India as a street food. A plate of hot steaming momos with a dipping sauce (momos sauce) is all you want on a raining evening.
In this Paneer Momos recipe, paneer cubes are cooked along with onions and few spices, which is then placed in a thin sheet, shaped and steamed. Momos can be prepared with various stuffings like mixed vegetables, corn, paneer, mushroom or if you like it non-vegetarian, then you can use stuffings like chicken. The dipping sauce for momos is hot and spicy. I prepared Momos Sauce for serving with Paneer momos and veg momos. I served Veg momos and paneer momos with momos sauce to my family. Momos got over in minutes. They loved it and asked me to make it regularly. As the sauce is spicy, make the filling lightly spiced. Momos take a good amount of time from preparing the dough, filling and till steaming, so plan ahead.
Momos can be made in two ways, Steaming and Frying. In this Paneer Momos Recipe, I steamed the Momos just like Veg Momos. You can deep fry the Momos, but steaming is much healthier. There is a a special equipment for steaming momos available in market and it is called as momos steamer. If you don’t have momos steamer, use any perforated plate placed in a slightly larger vessel with water at bottom and place momos on the perforated plate to steam cook. You can also use any other steaming method like idly cooker.
To make this Paneer Momos even more healthier, you can use Wheat flour instead of All purpose flour. There will be taste difference but people looking for much healthier option can go for it. Momos will be a great option for serving kids coming back from school in the evening. They would love to have delicious Momos as a snack back from school. The Recipe is simple, so do try it and let me know how you liked it.
