Falooda’s origin goes back to Persia. The dessert came to India when many muslim merchants settled here. There has been lot of adaptations to the original recipe and many versions are served in Indian sub- continent. This rose falooda recipe is my version. It is one of the best desserts to beat the summer heat. You can check out other Summer special recipes like Mulam palam Juice/musk melon juice

What do you need for making Rose Falooda

The look of the dessert may seem complicated but it is very easy to make at home. You can put together in just 10 minutes if you have chilled milk in hand. You will need sabja seeds(basil seeds), Vermicelli, Rose essence, ice cream and jelly. I need to talk about the health benefits of Sabja seeds. It reduces body heat, helps in weight loss, controls sugar level and much more. Especially in Summer, just soak a tsp of sabja seeds in water for 10 – 15 minutes and drink. It acts as wonderful body coolant. If you have Rose syrup at home, you can use that instead of rose essence. You can also add some chopped fruits.

How to make Falooda dessert at home

  1. In a pan, bring water to boil. Add a handful of vermicelli and cook till done. Rinse and set aside
  2. Add rose essence to the milk and refrigerate for atleast 30 minutes.
  3. Soak sabja seeds in water for 10 – 15 mins.
  4. Chop fruits of your choice. I used Apple and grapes.
  5. Now you can play around with the layering. Layering is completely your choice.
  6. I added Sabja seeds at the bottom and then comes the vermicelli.
  7. Next comes milk, jelly and chopped fruits.
