Breakfast/Dinner South Indian Breakfast

Ven Pongal, Khara Pongal

Sharing is caring!

Ven Pongal / Khara Pongal is a traditional breakfast of south India. This is a wonderful breakfast option cooked with rice and Moong dal, tempered with cumin, pepper corns, ginger and cashews. In restaurants, they use dalda for tempering. This Recipe gives you the taste similar to Saravana bhavan Ven Pongal. I use lots of Ghee for tempering and it adds a great flavor to the Pongal. Ghee gives a rich flavor to the Pongal. Pongal and Medu Vada is a great combination. It goes well with sambar and chutney. Making Pongal is so simple and can be made quickly. When I’m busy with any other work, I make Pongal. It saves a lot of time in kitchen.
