Cajun Potatoes – Barbeque Nation Style

Cajun Potatoes Recipe – Crispy fried potatoes with delicious spicy Cajun mayonnaise dressing is one of our family’s favourite dish in the Barbecue Nation Restaurant chain.

Barbeque Nation restaurant is popular for its varieties of non-veg grills, but few dishes like Cajun Potatoes, Crispy corn and grilled pineapple are surely a treat for vegetarians. We’ve been to the restaurant few times and every time i never forget to have this crispy Cajun potatoes. My husband loves this dish and he wanted me to recreate it at home. I decided to try the dish, remembering the texture, taste and colour. I got it right in the first try and we loved the crispness of the potatoes, the creaminess of the mayonnaise dressing and it was yummy. My lil one cant stop eating.

The recipe is very simple and can be made quickly. These crispy Cajun potatoes will be a great appetiser or starter for a party.
Do try the recipe and enjoy restaurant style dish at the comfort of your home, as nothing is better than home-cooked food. There are few things to be noted to have a barbeque nation style Cajun potatoes. Don’t forget to check the tips section.

How to make Cajun Potatoes?

  1. You will need baby potatoes for this recipe. In a wide pan, bring water to boil. Add baby potatoes and cook for 5 – 7 minutes. Do not over-cook. Once cooked, drain the water and pour cold water over the potatoes. Let it cool. Do not peel the skin. It gives the crunchiness to the potatoes when fried.cooking
  2. Now place the potatoes on a chopping board and with a help of a fork gently press them as shown in the pics below .press potatoes
  3. In a bowl, add 2 tbsp of All Purpose flour, 2 tbsp of Corn Flour and a pinch of salt. Add water and form a very thin paste.
  4. In a pan, add oil and heat in medium flame. once the oil is hot, dip the potatoes in the prepared paste and fry in the oil. Keep the flame in medium and fry till golden and crisp. Once golden, place the fried potatoes on a kitchen tissue to drain excess oil.deep fry potatoes
  5. Let’s prepare the spicy Cajun mayonnaise dressing for the potatoes. In a bowl, add 3 tbsp of mayonnaise, 1 tsp of onion powder, 1 tsp of garlic powder, 1 tsp of red chilli powder, 1 /4 tsp of roasted jeera powder, 1/2 tsp of dried Italian herbs, salt and 1 tbsp of tomato ketchup. Mix well and the dressing is ready now.
  6. now let’s how to serve the barbecue nation style Cajun potatoes. In a plate, place the fried potatoes and top with the spicy Cajun mayonnaise mix. Now sprinkle finely chopped onions over the dressing and serve!

Ingredients

  • 15 Baby potatoes
  • 3 tbsp Mayonnaise
  • 1 tsp Onion powder
  • 1 tsp Garlic powder
  • 1 tsp Red Chilli powder
  • 1/2 tsp Roasted Jeera Powder
  • 1 tbsp Tomato Ketchup
  • 1/2 tsp Italian Seasoning
  • Salt As required
  • Oil For Deep frying
  • 2 tbsp Corn Flour

  • 1 Onion Finely chopped

  •  In a plate, place the fried potatoes and top with the spicy Cajun mayonnaise mix. Now sprinkle finely chopped onions over the dressing and serve!

Notes

  • Do not peel the potatoes' skin. skin gives the crunchiness and crispness.
  • You can also use store brought Cajun Spice Mix.
  • The Mayonnaise dressing over the potatoes should be done just before serving, else it will turn soggy.
