Mildly Spiced Indian Style Chicken Soup is best for cold and flu. When you are Sick, make this chicken clear soup and have a bowl, you will feel better. This Soup not only cures Cold, it is also healthy as we use Nattu Kozhi. I made this Soup in a Pressure Cooker by adding the spices and chicken together. Then I reserved the water for soup and made Nattu kozhi Kulambu with the cooked chicken pieces. You can also make Nattu Kozhi Varuval. How to make Nattu Kozhi Soup

  • Method 1 – with Pressure cooker 
  1. In a pressure cooker, add the below ingredients, Chicken Pieces/ Nattu Koli, turmeric powder, chilli powder, salt and 2 cups of water.Nattu kozhi soup ingredients
  2. Cook for 6 – 8 whistles. Wait till pressure releases naturally.Chicken soup Pressurecook
  3. Drain the liquid and serve the soup hot.
  4. Add pepper powder and salt as per your taste.Nattu Kozhi Soup
  • Method 2 – Without Pressure Cooker
  1. In a wide pan, add all the ingredients mentioned above and add 2 cups of water
  2. Let it simmer for about 20 – 30 minutes.
  3. Drain the liquid and serve the soup hot.
  4. Add pepper powder and salt as per your taste.

Ingredients

  • 250 grams Country Chicken / Nattu Kozhi
  • 4 Shallots
  • 1 Tomato
  • 1 tsp Red chili powder
  • 1/4 tsp Turmeric powder
  • Salt as required
  • 1 tsp Fennel
  • 1 tsp cumin
  • 1 tsp Pepper corns
  • Coriander leaves few
  • 1 tsp Oil – 1 tsp

How to make Nattu Kozhi Soup / Chicken Soup

    Method 1 - With pressure Cooker

    • In a pressure cooker, add all the above ingredients and 2 cups of water.
    • Cook for 6 – 8 whistles. Wait till pressure releases naturally.
    • Drain the liquid and serve the soup hot.
    • Add pepper powder and salt as per your taste.

    Method 2 - Without Pressure Cooker

    • In a wide pan, add all the ingredients mentioned above and add 2 cups of water
    • Let it simmer for about 20 - 30 minutes
    • Drain the liquid and serve the soup hot
    • Add pepper powder and salt as per your taste.

    Notes

    • If you are giving this to kids, adjust spice levels accordingly.
    • You can even shred few pieces of chicken before serving the Soup.
