Mutton Uppu Kari is one of the dish which is made using very few ingredients. No Special masala, no grinding – A simple Mutton Dish with shallots, red chillies and garlic. Usually Mutton uppu kari is slow cooked so that the real taste of mutton is brought out. Use shallots extensively. Please don’t substitute with Onions. Shallots gives exceptional taste to this recipe. You can adjust spice level according to your taste. Ginger garlic paste is also optional. You can skip that. Mutton Uppu Kari
Ingredients
- 250 Grams Mutton
- 6 Garlic
- 6 Red Chillies
- 12 Shallots
- Curry leaves - few
- 1/2 tsp Turmeric powder
- salt as required
- 1 tsp Ginger Garlic paste
Instructions
- In a pressure cooker, add cleaned mutton pieces, ginger garlic paste, salt, turmeric powder and enough water to immerse the mutton pieces. Pressure cook for 5 whistles.
- In a pan, add oil. Once hot, add chopped shallots, garlic, curry leaves and Red Chillies.
- Cook till shallots turn translucent.
- Add the cooked mutton along with the stock and salt.
- Roast in medium flame till it becomes dry.
- Mutton Uppu Kari is ready.
Notes
- Adjust Spice level according to your taste.
How to make Mutton Uppu Kari
