I made this tasty Rice pudding on the occasion of Tamil New year. You will be surprised to know how long it took to make this Paal Payasam. I made this Rice kheer in Pressure cooker and it just took 15 mins from start to end. The recipe is so simple and even beginners can do it without any hassle. Let’s see what all you need for this recipe. The ingredients required are rice, milk, sugar, ghee, cashews, raisins and cardamom powder. Using Basmati rice adds more flavour to the kheer. If you have, use that. Else You can use any normal rice which you use at home. I could not get basmati rice in the current situation. So I used regular rice. It tasted equally good. How to make Rice Kheer in pressure cooker
- Wash the rice well and drain it completely.
- In a pan, add ghee. Once hot, add cashews and fry till golden brown. Remove the fried cashews to a plate.
- with the remaining ghee in the pan, fry raisins till it plumps up.
- In a pressure cooker, add rice, milk and sugar. Pressure cook in medium flame for 3/4 whistles. Let the pressure settle down naturally.
- Open the pressure cooker, Mix well. If the consistency is thick, add 1/2 cup of milk and simmer till desired consistency.
- Add Cardamom, fried cashews, raisins and ghee to the kheer and combine well.
- Transfer to serving bowls.
- Serve it either chilled or warm.
