As you all know, paneer tikka is the most sought after appetiser in restaurants, follow this simple and easy paneer tikka recipe for making at home. You need hung curd for making this. Take a muslin cloth and add 1 cup of curd. Tie and hang it for 1 hour. This is to remove the whey from the curd. Now you will get thick curd. Another tip is Adding besan flour. It is gives crispiness to the paneer chunks. You can also roast the besan flour in low flame for 2 mins and cool it and add to the marinade. It gives a nice flavour. How to make tawa paneer tikka

Preparing paneer and veggies

  1. cut the paneer into cubes or rectangle.
  2. Dice capsicum, onion and tomato(remove the seeds).
  3. Keep these aside

Marinade for paneer tikka

  1. In a bowl, add hung curd, besan flour, turmeric powder, red chilli powder, coriander powder, cumin powder, garam masala, pepper powder, salt, ginger garlic paste and crushed kasuri methi. Mix well.
  2. Add the paneer cubes and diced vegetables to the marinade and mix gently. The paneer and vegetables should be coated evenly.
  3. Now let it rest for 3 – 4 hours in refrigerator. You can even rest it overnight.marinate paneer

Seasoning the tawa for making paneer tikka

  1. Its time to season the tawa for making paneer tikka. The tawa should be well seasoned, otherwise the paneer will stick to it.
  2. For seasoning, heat the tawa. when it is hot, add 2 tsp of oil and spread it across the tawa. Oil should be spread evenly and all over the tawa.
  3. The other way of seasoning the tawa which we follow at home is, take an onion and cut it into halves. Now an half and use it for brushing the tawa. Heat the tawa, add 2 tsp of oil and with the cut onion brush brush the oil all over the tawa. both methods work really well.


Making Paneer tikka on tawa

  1. Its time to assemble the tikka. Now the thread the marinated paneer and vegetables in a skewer. Start with Capsicum, then Onion, tomato, paneer and repeat the same.
  2. Place the skewers over the tawa and cook on medium flame.grill paneer over tawna
  3. Keep turning the skewers now and then until all sides are cooked evenly.
  4. Once done, transfer to a serving plate.
  5. Garnish with onions rings and a lemon wedge.

Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup Thick curd
  • 1 tbsp besan flour
  • 1/4 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1 tsp red chilli powder
  • 1 tsp coriander powder
  • 1/2 tsp cumin powder
  • 1/2 tsp garam masala
  • 1/2 tsp pepper powder
  • salt As required
  • 1 tsp ginger garlic paste
  • 1/2 tsp kasuri methi
  • 150 grams Paneer / Cottage Cheese
  • 1 large Onion
  • 1 Capsicum green or red or both
  • 1 large Tomato

Instructions

  • Season the Tawa well before placing the skewers. If the tawa is not seasoned well, paneer will stick to it. For seasoning the tawa, heat the tawa. Once hot, add 2 tsp of oil and spread it across the tawa evenly.
  • soak the skewers for at least 20 mins before using. After 20 mins of soaking, pat it dry.
