Fish fry pieces with lemon wedges

An easy starter recipe which will be a hit at your home. This also goes well as a side along with plain rice , rasam rice or Ghee Rice. Anybody can make this Delicious dish as it is so simple. You have to marinate the fish with red chilli powder, turmeric powder, ginger garlic paste, lemon juice and salt. Leave this marination for at least 30 minutes. Before frying, coat the fish pieces with corn flour and fry. The coating should be light not a thick one. You can either deep fry or shallow fry. I fried the fish in Tawa with very little oil. The fish fries turned out very tasty and crispy. The taste of the fish fry depends on the variety of fish too. You can use Seer, Barracuda, snapper, tilapia,etc,. The thickness of the fish slices also matters. The slices should not be very thick. So next time, when you want to make a simple fish fry, try this recipe with step by step pictures below. Ingredients

  • 8 Pieces Fish (cut into slices)
  • 2 tsp Ginger Garlic paste
  • 1 tbsp Red Chilli Powder
  • 2 tsp Coriander Powder
  • 1/2 tsp Turmeric Powder
  • 1 tsp Lemon Juice
  • Salt As required
  • 2 tbsp Corn flour
  • Oil For Shallow Frying

Instructions

How to make Fish Fry

  • Take a bowl and add everything mentioned above except fish, Corn Flour and oil. Add enough water to make a paste.
  • Apply paste on the both the sides of the fish pieces.Let it marinate for at least 20 mins.
  • Before frying, in a plate corn corn flour. Place the fish pieces and coat with corn flour. The coating need not be thick. Let the pieces rest on another plate for 5 minutes.
  • Marinated fish can be either deep fried or roasted over a tawa. I prefer roasting over tawa. Heat a tawa and spread a tbsp of oil all over it. The tawa should be hot. Only then the masala will stick to the fish.
  • When the tawa is hot, place the pieces and drizzle some oil over it. Cook for 1 min on one side and then flip it.
  • Cook it for another 1 min and reduce the flame to medium. Roast it for a min on both sides and transfer to a serving plate.
  • Spicy and Crispy fish fry is ready to be served.

Notes

  • The tawa should be hot, when you place the fish over it. Only then the masala will stick to the fish.
  • Adjust Spice level according to your taste preferences.
  • You can use the same masala with any other fish.
